So you just picked up a new RZR — congratulations. Before you hit the trails, there are a handful of upgrades that transform the ownership experience from day one.
1. A Proper Windshield
The factory RZR comes without a windshield, which means every rock, branch, and bug has a direct path to your face. A half windshield is the minimum — it blocks the worst of the roost while keeping airflow. A full glass windshield with a wiper is ideal if you ride in rain or dusty conditions.
2. A Winch
You don't need a winch until you need a winch — and then nothing else will do. A 4,500 lb synthetic-rope winch with a proper mount plate bolts on in about an hour and pays for itself the first time you're buried axle-deep in a mud hole.
3. LED Lighting
The stock headlights on most RZRs are adequate for parking lots. Once you're on a trail after sunset, you'll wish you had more light. A roof-mounted LED bar and a pair of bumper pods give you the visibility to ride confidently in the dark.
4. Doors or Nerf Bars
Side protection is critical for trail riding. Doors keep rocks, mud, and brush out of the cab. Nerf bars protect the lower body panels and give passengers a footrest. Either way, leaving the sides open is asking for dents and dirty passengers.
5. A Clutch Kit (If You Run Bigger Tires)
If you've upsized your tires, the factory clutch calibration is no longer optimal. A Stage 2 clutch kit with proper weights and springs restores the snappy throttle response that larger tires take away. It's the difference between a sluggish machine and one that feels dialed.
Honorable Mentions
A spare belt holder, fire extinguisher mount, and overhead storage bag are low-cost additions that round out a practical build. None of them are glamorous, but they're the kind of gear that experienced riders always have on board.
